Triduum of Prayer for the Year of Vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood

September 18, 2023

Earlier this year, on Sunday 30th of April, the Irish Episcopal Conference designated 2023 as a year dedicated to prayer and awareness in promoting Vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood.

Speaking at the launch, Bishop Cullinan said,

“a key objective of this year of  Vocations is to start conversations within families, with priests and in parish communities on the gift of the vocation to the priesthood”.

Feedback from newly ordained priests indicates a strong correlation between their calling and encouragement received from a priest about their ministry, and fostering openness from both family and parish communities to support the notion of a vocation.

Essentially, ‘taking the risk for Christ.’

Bishop Cullinan, on the occasion of the launch stated that

“answering God’s call as a priest is a counter-cultural and a courageous decision”.

As a local cluster of parishes, we too need to play our part.  Therefore, the Parish Pastoral Councils of Naas, Sallins, Two Mile House and Kill are this weekend publishing details of the Three Day Triduum of Prayer for Vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood as outlined below.

This Triduum of prayer will take place in the Church of Our Lady and the Guardian Angels in Sallins.

We encourage your prayerful participation and support of this important event.
