A poignant ceremony marking the first interment in St Corban’s Cemetery, Naas will take place this Wednesday evening – 19 August – at 7pm. Naas Local History Group will mark the hitherto unmarked grave of one Thomas McCabe who was the first burial in the cemetery when it opened in 1887. St Corban’s is one of the the county’s largest municipal cemeteries but Thomas McCabe’s plot has lain unmarked since his remains were laid to rest almost 139 years back.
