Daffodil Day – Irish Cancer Society

Picture of DaffodilsPlease support Daffodil Day in aid of the Irish Cancer Society which takes place on Friday 24th March. Dafffodil distribution points will be evident in all towns and villages.

Local Volunteers needed to collect at Eurospar, Tesco Dublin Road and Tesco Monread. Collectors are needed from 10am to 10pm, if you could spare even one hour, it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Kay Callaghan on 086 382 7979. „The Irish Cancer Society needs your support’.

Gala Concert in Naas – 25th March

March 25, 2017; 8:00 pm to 10:30 pm.

This is a Fundraising Concert in support of McAuley Place featuring, The ‘Baldonnel Singers‟ with ‘Tenor Paul Linehan‟ and the ‘Nás na Rí Singers‟ and takes place on Saturday 25th March at 8pm in the Naas Parish Church, The Church of Our Lady and St David, Sallins Road, Naas. Tickets €20 on sale from the Parish Office, Sallins Road and McAuley Place.

Parade2009cThe Naas Easter Parade will be taking place this Easter Sunday, 16th April at 3pm. There will be lots of fun for all the family: Marching Bands, Community Groups, Sport Groups, Local Business, Irish Dancers, Gymnastics, Vintage Cars, and Steam Engines. The annual parade is usually watched by thousands of people and is a great family occasion.

As one who loves all things mathematical, I am always fascinated by facts and statistics as they have never failed to give me a pause for thought. Only recently I read the following set of statistics which I would like to share with you this morning. Bringing Holy Communion to the Sick and Housebound

Eucharistic-MinisterTraining for new Ministers of the Eucharist to include training for those who would distribute Holy Communion in the Church and who would like to bring Holy Communion to the sick/housebound takes place on Saturday coming 18th February from 10am to 12.30pm in the Foyer of the Church of the Irish Martyr’s Ballycane. This course would also be suitable for Parish/Community members who may have sick/housebound relatives who would like to receive Holy Communion on a Sunday.

Kildare & Leighlin Diocesan Pilgrimage To Lourdes 2017 Led by Bishop Denis Nulty

Inaugural Kildare & Leighlin Diocesan Pilgrimage To Lourdes, led by Bishop Denis Nulty. This is a unique opportunity to travel as a Diocese on pilgrimage with Bishop Denis Nulty as our leader and spiritual guide. It will be a time when, as a Diocese, we can come together with our Bishop and with people drawn from every Parish. The Pilgrimage takes place on 16th July for 5 nights at a cost of €719 per person sharing, full board in Hotel Jeanne D’Arc. The pilgrimage is being organised in conjunction with Joe Walsh Tours. Naas Parish Church Choir – New Members

Naas Parish Church Choir welcome new members. We sing at the 11am mass each Sunday in the Parish Church, Sallins Road. We currently have over 30 members but welcome more. We welcome Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses. Would you like to join us? You are most welcome to come along. Just turn up for the practice. Further details 087 235 2545

Congratulations to 35 Young People – JP II Awards

JPII Group 2016The 7th Annual Pope John Paul II Award Ceremony took place on 2nd December in Askea with a total of 295 young people from the Diocese received their Pope John Paul II Awards from Bishop Denis Nulty. 35 young people from Naas, Sallins and Two Mile House received their Papal Cross Awards. These young people are involved in many Ministries in our parishes —17 of the Awardees were part of the Diocesan Group who travelled to World Youth Day in Krakow in July with Bishop Denis. We warmly welcome any new students in Transition Year in our Parish Secondary Schools who would like to sign up for Gold JPII Award. If interested phone Grace on 087-9838343, JPII Parish Co-Ordinator. We also welcome Fr. Joe O‟Neill who is joining the group.

Thank you Mairead!

On Wednesday 27th November Naas Parish had the opportunity to acknowledge the enormous contribution made by Mairead D‟Arcy to our Parish over many years working alongside many priests‟ as Pastoral Assistant. Grace Keevans, Chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Council in Naas, expressed on behalf of the Parish our deep appreciation and gratitude to Mairead for her dedication and generosity. Bishop Denis Nulty made a presentation to Mairead on our behalf, a heartfelt token of that appreciation. Mairead, we wish you, and Michael every blessing; good health, happiness and peace.
