The Parish Social held on the 2nd February was a wonderful occasion for our three Parishes. My sincere thanks to all who made it such a great success: to the Proprietors, Management and Staff of Killashee House Hotel for their wonderful welcome and excellent service on the night, to the members of the three Parish Pastoral Councils, to the Office Staff on the Sallins Road and in Ballycane, to our Sacristans, the John Paul II Students for their kind help and finally the wonderful committee who worked so hard on this special event.
To have 425 people attend exceeded all our expectations and thanks to you the parishioners for supporting the Social. It certainly achieved what we set out to do, to create an opportunity to come together, share a meal, chat and have a dance! Creating, a sense of community, of a people united by a shared faith in Christ Jesus. A fitting occasion to mark the World Meeting of Families!
The Raffle on the night raised €1,825 after expenses were paid including the Band €800, we were left with a balance of €840. With the blessing of the Herbert Family we have forwarded the balance of €840 to the charity; ‘Aoibheann‘s Pink Tie‘. We do so in the name and memory of Darragh, whose funeral we celebrated on the same day as the Parish Social. It was a day of two halves! Again my renewed thanks, Fr. Liam.
