Happy Mothers Day to all Naas, Sallins and Two Mile House Mums

Published on March 21, 2020

Some will say Mothers Day is a racket thought up by the card companies. Others will see it as something else to cost them money or time. Kids will see it as a fun time to do something nice to make mammy happy. Others will see it as an opportunity to say thanks to their mothers, an opportunity to show love and affection, an opportunity to spoil her.  – And spoil her you should!  They say that you never miss your mother ’till she’s gone. Well, it’s only when this writers mother died that I understood those words. What I wouldn’t give to be able to spoil her for another day! So happy mothers Day to all Mums where ever you may be, and a big ‘thank you’.

Prayer for Mothers

God our Creator, we pray:
for new mothers, coming to terms with new responsibility ;
for expectant mothers, wondering and waiting;
for those who are tired, stressed or depressed;
for those who struggle to balance the tasks of work and family;
for those who are unable to feed their children due to poverty;
for those whose children have physical, mental or emotional disabilities;
for those who raise children on their own;
for those who have lost a child;
for those who care for the children of others;
for those whose children have left home;
and for those whose desire to be a mother has not been fulfilled.
Bless all mothers, that their love may be deep and tender,
and that they may lead their children to know and do what is good,
living not for themselves alone, but for God and for others. Amen.
