Holy Week … a time apart!

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, a time when through Ritual and Remembering we celebrate the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. His words and actions in those final days before his crucifixion. We recall His triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The bread blessed and broken, this is my body. His agony in the garden. Jesus gave his very self for us: passing through betrayal to forgiveness, through torment to peace, through death to Resurrection. His sacrifice ….. for us, the promise of eternal life.

Holy Week is a beautiful time, it is a time apart. Why not enter into the Spirit of Holy Week as if it were a retreat! A time to think, reflect and pray. A time to slow down, to still the racing mind and to come into the presence of Jesus…. Our Lord and Saviour who is our dearest companion on the journey of life.

Consider the opportunity to receive God’s love and mercy in confession on Wednesday Evening in the Parish Church, or to join us for Morning Prayer in the Day Chapel in Ballycane.
On Holy Thursday, for young families, an earlier Mass of the Lord’s Supper in Ballycane at 6.00pm. Why not walk together as Christians on Good Friday as we carry the Cross from the St. David’s Church of Ireland to Ballycane, or Sunrise at Punchestown on Easter Sunday Morning at 7am.
