This ministry recruits, trains and schedules ministers to assist the clergy in distributing Holy Communion at Mass and to those unable to attend church. In Naas parish we operate this ministry under three groupings: Liturgical, Housebound Visits and Nursing Home & Hospital Visits. Rotas are available to download below.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion at Mass

DESCRIPTION: Assist with distributing Holy Communion at Mass on weekdays, at weekends and at other liturgies as needed.

TIME: Normal schedule is one or two weekend Masses per month.

COMMUNION TO THE HOUSEBOUND, HOSPITALISED AND THOSE IN OUR NURSING HOMES

DESCRIPTION: An invitation to serve communion to the housebound, hospitalized and those in our nursing homes. Requirements: Must be an Extraordinary Minister of Communion and be able to take communion on an as need basis. Prayerfully consider becoming part of this important ministry.

TIME: For those serving the housebound one or two visits a month and for those attending the hospital and nursing homes one visit a month. Communion is brought to housebound personnel after the 9am Sunday Mass. Visits to the local nursing home takes place on Tuesday evening at 6pm and on Sundays at 10am.
