			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The death has occurred of Eddie Quinn, Fournaughts, Tipper East, Naas, Co. Kildare. (Dept. of Social Protection).</p>
<p>Wednesday 17th May 2012. In the loving care of the staff of St. Brigid&#8217;s Hospice, The Curragh.</p>
<p>Sadly missed by his loving wife Mary, daughters Ríona and Orla, aunt Kathleen and Norrie, uncle Edmund, father-in-law Jack Kirwan, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, cousins and friends.</p>
<p><strong>Funeral Arrangements</strong>:  Reposing at his residence. Removal Saturday at 1.30pm to arrive at the Church of Our Lady and St. David, Sallins Road, Naas for 2pm Requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in St. Corban&#8217;s Cemetery, Naas. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, to St. Brigid&#8217;s Hospice, The Curragh.</p>

Tom McDonnell, Parochial House, Naas. Fr. Tom passed to his eternal reward Friday evening 11th May at Harolds Cross Hospice. He was aged 63.</p>
<p>Fr. Tom is survived by his sister Maura and brother Donal, aunt, relatives, the Diocesan Administrator and priests of the Parish and Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin, parishioners and friends.</p>
<p><strong>Funeral</strong>:  Funeral took place at Naas Parish Church. Fr. Tom was buried beside his parents in Baltinglass Cemetery, Co. Wicklow.</p>
<p>May Tom rest in the peace of the Lord that he loved and served.</p>

<h2>Obituary</h2>
<p>Born in Coolinarrig , Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow Fr. Tom McDonnell was educated at the local primary school, at Knockbeg College, at Maynooth,(1967-1974) and at Mt.Oliver Dundalk (1976-77) where he did post-graduate study in catechetics.</p>
<p>After Ordination in 1974 he was appointed curate in Tullow. From 1978-1987 he was chaplain at Tullow Community School. In 1987 he was appointed Director of Formation at Carlow College and was Vice-President of the college from 1994 to 1996. He was Chancellor of the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin, assisting Bishop Laurence Ryan, from 1987 until 1998.</p>
<p>From 1996 to 2001 he was curate in Prosperous until he was appointed Parish Priest of Paulstown. Three years later he became Parish Priest of Sallins and in 2006 he was appointed P.P. of the combined parishes of Sallins, Naas and Twomilehouse.</p>
<p>As school-chaplain, catechist, seminary staff-member, diocesan administrator and priest, Fr. Tom exercised his diverse ministries with dedication and competence. He sat on national and regional committees to do with ecclesiastical heritage, church architecture and conservation. He was the driving force behind the Delany Archive project.</p>
<p>He was a Trustee of Carlow College and was most supportive of its work.</p>
<p>He will be remembered as a man of considerable intellectual ability, with wide ranging interests, who served Church and Society conscientiously and well for nearly forty years.</p>
<p>He was a man of enormous integrity, a dutiful priest and a faithful friend who was held in the highest esteem by his family, his fellow priests and those whom he served across the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin. Requiescat in Pace</p>
