Fr. Moling Lennon R.I.P


The parishioners of Naas, Sallins, and Two Mile House, and the wider community thank God for the life and ministry of Fr Moling, who died on Sunday, June 15th, RIP. He is buried in the grounds of the Church of Our Lady and St David. We prayerfully and gratefully commend him, through Mary, into the hands of the Lord he served so faithfully here for 30 years.

The Priests of the Parishes together with his family would like to sincerely thank all who cared for or ministered to him, in any way, during his latter years.

Some Pastoral Thoughts on the Referendum on Marriage.

As I make my Confirmation visits these days, many priests and people ask for some guidance or direction in relation to the upcoming referendum. I know this referendum on marriage is a complex and sensitive topic. Therefore I feel that, as your bishop, I cannot in good conscience neglect to address this issue; I pray my words will in no way offend or hurt anyone. That is certainly not my intention.

Synod on the Family Online Questionnaire


An online version of the current questionnaire regarding the mission of the family in the Church and the contemporary world is now available for use.

Submissions will be made anonomously and will be complied by the communications committee. A report of all submissions will then be forwarded to Bishop’s house.

Advent Nights for Young Adults at Ballycane Church


December 12, 2014; 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Advent Nights for Young Adults aged 18-30years. As we journey through the Season of Advent take some time out and join our ‘Advent Nights’ for three evenings of reflection and prayer and quiet music at The Church of the Irish Martyrs, Ballycane on Friday 28th November,  Friday 5th December and  Friday 12th December from 8pm—9pm followed by Tea/Coffee. Sunday Mass Changes in Naas – from Sunday 5th October 2014


Following consultation with the Parish Team, Pastoral Council, and Ministry Coordinators, the following Mass times will operate in Naas Parish from Sunday 5th October 2014:

NAAS PARISH CHURCH: Church of Our Lady and St David: 9am, 11am and 6pm
(9am Mass replaces both the 8.30 and 10 Masses).

BALLYCANE CHURCH: Church of the Irish Martyrs:   10.30am and 12noon.

All other Saturday evening and Sunday Mass times, in Naas, Sallins and Two Mile House remain unchanged. Ministers will be notified of roster adjustments and the main choirs will sing at the 10.30am and 11 am Masses.  READ MORE From Fr John

Aras Cill Dara, Naas – National Fun day


September 20, 2014; 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Celebrate National Play Day on Saturday 21st September 12-5pm at Áras Chill Dara, Newbridge Road, Naas. Play Activities Indoors and Outdoors for all the Family for FREE! Inside you can get up close and personal with reptiles, snakes and other creepy crawlies. Find out about World War 1 with an inter‐active hands‐on display suitable for all ages.  See how bees make honey or learn about computer programming.  Be whisked off to an imaginary world through story telling.  Learn how to catch a criminal with the Garda Crime Scene Investigation Unit.   Outdoors you can improve your soccer and GAA skills, learn about sand sculptures, meet the army and fire brigade. If that’s not enough you can finish the day off on the bouncy castles or get your face painted.   All this and much more for free

There will be lots of fun for all the family. The events are free and open to all. Come along and enjoy a great family day out. Supported by Kildare County Council.

Pope John Paul II Award Programme.


The John Paul II Award Programme has been running in our diocese for a number of years. The award helps young people get involved in the life of their local parish and community. It is for those in senior cycle or for school leavers aged 16 and over.

Through the award the teenagers will have the opportunity to get involved in various events, activities, ministry, training and trips over the year ahead.  Those who sign up are committing to work voluntary in their local parish and community for the year. Over the last 4 years we’ve had over 1000 young people from the diocese participating in the awards.

We are inviting young people to sign up for Year 6 of the Pope John Paul II Award. Those who sign up are committing to work voluntary in their local parish and community for the year. Over the last 5 years we’ve had over 1,300 young people from the diocese participating in the awards. Anyone interested can apply to take part by downloading an application form. The closing date for applications is 7th November 2014. Completed application forms should be forwarded to: Cathriona Kelly, Faith Development Services, Cathedral Parish Centre, College Street, Carlow.
