Samaritans are seeking volunteers for their Newbridge Branch. Are you willing to give 3 to 4 hours a week to listen to those who are lonely, depressed and sometimes suicidal? No experience is necessary, as full training will be provided. Naas Special Olympics Club established in 2008 invite you to come join our club. We serve all areas in Kildare, We are a sports club for people with intellectual disabilities. Besides the physical benefits of sport Naas Special Olympics Club can change lives as athletes can develop both physically and emotionally. Athletes make new friends and the club enables athletes to achieve and win not only in sport but in their lives too. Naas Special Olympics Club has a lot to offer. “Do This in Memory”; First Communion preparation takes place at  Masses in our three parishes next weekend 11th & 12th Feb

Saturday 11th of February is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. During the 11a.m. Mass in Ballycane, we will have our annual Mass with the Anointing of the Sick. This sacrament is offered to all those who are in need of the Lord’s healing in their lives as a result of illness, an operation, medical treatment, the burden of years or some emotional angst. Perhaps a neighbour, friend or family member would be delighted to attend if they had a lift and someone to care for them while at the mass?  The church is wheelchair friendly and has suitable toilet facilities. 

What Is the Sacrament of the sick

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is exactly what it says. It is a prayerful celebration for someone or for a group of people who are ill and are blessed by the priest with Holy Oil. It is not a sign that someone is dying as it was perceived in olden times. It is not a magical ritual; the person doesn’t automatically get better immediately after an anointing. God’s healing and loving presence are called upon that the sick person might be raised up and restored to health.
