An old schoolteacher used to bow to her students before each class. When asked why she did this, she said, “because I don’t know what one of my students might become.” This was something similar to the respect people had for John the Baptist. This mysterious respect for John is the kind of respect I should have, as a Christian, for all people. Do I recognise Christ in others? “As long as you did this to one of these, the least of my brothers and sisters, you did it to me.” (Mt. 25)
Prayer for Today
Thank you Lord for the gift of today, and for all that I am blessed with.
Today I pray that during this Advent time, I may see you in all people and treat them as if they were you.
Walk with me in my needs, and hear my prayers for those I love.
Help me to realise that nothing will happen this day
that together you and I can’t handle. Amen.
